PINION BEARING !

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Thankfully the bearing seems to be fine, but I have a ton of fluid coming from the pinion seal.

well i had a squeak coming from the rear brakes for about the past 2 years. Decided to really dissect it this week and figure it out.  The only conclusion that i came to was that there was rust build up between the rotor and where it mounts up against the axle cause it to not spin true/straight..  while it was up in the air I noticed my pinion seal let go, covered the underside of the car, and left a nice puddle on the floor.  So everything came apart. I also decided it was time to get some black paint on the rear brakes.   Going to fill the diff tonight with fluid and put the brakes back on, hopefully the squeak went away and hopefully by re-doing the preload in the bearings and re-shimming the carrier i got rid of some of my gear noise.

Do you have the stock lower control arms. if so, I had the same issue, i thought it was brakes or the slides for the brakes. Turns out it was the forward rear lower control arms bushing were shot.

No they are tubular arms back there. All new poly bushings!

thing is finally running the way i like it.  well, i'd love way more power, but it drives nice with no squeaks from the brakes and isn't giving me any issues.  Still need to put in my FLSFC and a couple other misc things, but those arn't mandatory yet!

It's been unseasonably cool here the past few days too, only low-mid 70's during the day and mid 50's at night, but 43 is ridiculous lol.

It's weird but I like the black wheels, and I usually don't like 6 spoke wheels.

this build progresses almost as fast as mine! any work getting done @Blackmage ?

Haha slow as hell? I cleaned up the garage and pulled out my 99-04 power steering reservoir bracket and bullitt pedals to put in tonight. But all I did was look at them. Then I made some brats for dinner and started watching more game of thrones. Lol that's about how it goes lately

I managed to pull the old c/c plates off mine, only to find out I didn't get all the pieces with my MM c/c plates... so I went back in and watched baseball.

they're everywhere up here....  the guy in the back kept checking his mirrors as i was behind him, not sure if he liked the car or was trying to get my plates for driving like a ding dong through the corners.

Well I think I'm going to switch over to the bullitt style pedals, but I still kinda like my diamond plate ones I made a few years back.. Decisions decisions.. a5u5ymud.jpg

well seen as how winter is coming. I guess i can start tearing into some things. honestly most of this wont be done for months, but its a good start for winter.  I need to invest in a heater for the garage too i think...

  • install MM CC plates
  • install 99-04 power steering bracket
  • install subframe connectors
  • make new coil pack mount
  • relocate battery to trunk for aesthetics in the engine bay
  • install FRPP bullitt pedal covers
  • install new intake tube
  • install cobra 4v oil cooler
