full pushrod swap into new edge.. from v6 to v8 powaz!!

Recommended Posts

Well I think I may end up best of both worlds the.. I can't fine a descent dark charcoal dye.. so I may end up dying the seats, carpet, and headliner black.. give it a lil contrast as well.. but.. should the pillars and back 1/4 window trims be charcoal or black to match???..I'm thinkin black..

Drivers door wiring is installed. . Only snag I've come across is the dome light switch wiring and position.. on the 94-98 it's just a lil push button on the door where the 99-04 is on the latch on the other end of the door.. sooo.. that's not the biggie.. The biggie is the 94-98 is a 3 wire (black, red, green) and the 99-04 is a 2 wire black and yellow and solid black

Wiring installed. .

post-86-13965688889871_thumb.jpg

94 to 98 3 wire plug..

post-86-13965689282491_thumb.jpg

99-04 2 wire (attached to door lock actuator wiring)

post-86-13965689962717_thumb.jpg

Sooo.. once I get this figured out. . I'll update that. . Most likely will be near last.. I'll need power to test each wire.. and see if one can be eliminated for the use of the 99-04 as a direct replacement and plug in..

Well started atleast assy. On the interior.. everything looks great.. minus the fact that I noticed all the air bag and air bag module connectors are different.. those most likely won't get hooked up anyway.. so.. installed airbag delete ... lol.. but i also hear the wiring is different for the 99-04 column than the 94-98.. sooo.. I'll find that out when I get to it i guess.. it all plugged up fine. . But can't test till power is on it.. anyway.. here is how it looks so far.. I'm still working on the dome light wiring issue in the doors.. but it's not priority right now.. once again.. When I get power.. I'll then find and sort the lil wiring issues..

More to come soon..I'll be on it early tom.. and all day too.. may try to start engine disassembly, and removal!!

Yup.. by the time I add up catalytic converters, copper, aluminum from the v6 (heads, intake), k-member, and bottom end all in scrap.. plus sell the 2.25" flowmaster delta 40's that are on it.. I should make a few hundred I'd say..well hope to anyway lol

Well engine bay wiring, ecu harness, dash harness, and chassis harness all installed and hooked up..looks factory!!

Once the steering column multi function switch and harness arrives I'll be installing them.. then buttoning up the wiring and interior.. Still routing the underhood fuse box wiring through the wheel well and stuff.. but other than that.. it's going very smooth.. alot of little details.. A complete donor car IS ABSOLUTELY NEEDED for this swap!! Atleast for efi anyway!..

I do like the factory 99-04 ccrm location. So to clean it up a tad I opted to use this.. I'll need to extend the wires for the fan but.. I think it's a well worth it mod!!.

post-86-13968001753562_thumb.jpg

Since the fan wiring for the 99-04 I a 2 wire setup and not 3 like the 94-98.. I'll use that wiring and the 99-04 radiator and fan assy. (Mine were junk anyway).. and I'll just use the fan hi wiring for its control..along with a 180* t-stat.. should still run cool.. If not I'll opt for an external control or something of the sort..

Well washer reservoir pump motor also has a different plug design.. This one's seems easy tho! Lol.. it's a two wire system.. both harnesses have same color wires for this.. One black and one black with white stripe.. clip the 94-98 models end off

post-86-13968101952157_thumb.jpg

Then strip your wires.. match the colors. . I am using butt crim connectors and heat shrink tubing to insulate..

Here are the plug differences. .

94-98

post-86-13968102754915_thumb.jpg

And 99-04

post-86-13968103094614_thumb.jpg

And all done!!

Connect to reservior!

post-86-13968107109509_thumb.jpg

The engine bay is now complete and wired for the 5.0.. next is fuel system and engine/trans removal, K member swap....then install!!

Well Interior is coming together. Well!!.. wifey said she wanted to keep the seats and carpet tan.. rest grey.. so on whatever.. she said at income tax next year she wants me to get that terminator mustang interior (her words).. so I think I can live with this till then ;-)..

Anyway.. steam cleaned it up.. Re install of the carpet.. gonna let it dry before I install seats..

Me too :-( and I agree... I think it's a worthy swap.. alot of people say I'm going in reverse with the swap.. that I should go mod motor..I disagree. . Mod motors aren't my thing.. once I buy a 4v powered mustang I'll then make my comparison.. but the overall goal for this car is to do a full termi nock off , but with a blown or turbocharged pushrod as the powerplant. . My version of how I would like a terminator. .

If it weren't for this pretty lady being the most understanding woman in the world.. This would never get done.. and if it did.. it would have probably been due to divorce lol..

So for that.. I'm calling it a night, and spending quality time .. keep posted guys.. plenty more to come!!

Well found this on youtube for the seat... soo I'm going to go this route, but I'll be using the plugs from the factory harness, and adapting them to my harness.. As well as I think I found the plug for the seat belt to be a direct plug in on the seat frame.. I'll update it later.. of course when there is power.. but ill update with pics of my work.. and the true test will be if it works when powered up haha..

This will work for you guys wanting 99-04 seats in your 94-98's as well..

Watch "how to install 99-04 mustang seats in a 94-98 mus…" on YouTube

Ok.. here's the underside.. 6 way adjustable..

post-86-13969012807862_thumb.jpg

first.. seat belt indicator plug.. I found the plug. . And it looks as though it will be a direct plug in for our 94-98 harness..sweet!!

post-86-13969013388564_thumb.jpg

Here's the 4 prong plug on the seat..

post-86-13969015377421_thumb.jpg

and the harness pigtail I removed from the 99-04 harness

post-86-13969016112117_thumb.jpg

.. If you don't have this pigtail.. refer to the video.. that way it will work..

This pigtail I will integrate into the 94-98 harness for full seat operation and functionality! !

Next update will be harness integration and seat installation. .

Ok seat wiring complete. .

Yay..

Two green together, to stripe blue wire, black to black. I'll test when powered up..

post-86-13969767875363_thumb.jpg

The two green wire connection could have been better.. but i ran out of solder.. and used heat shrink butt clamp instead lol.. It'll work fine tho. .

Now.. remove the fuel tank, pump and driver assy. As well as in my case I'm going to try to use the 94-98 filler nozzle.. This one's rusted to shit.. and useless anyway..

post-86-13969820515962_thumb.jpgpost-86-13969820930438_thumb.jpg

Then follow the fuel lines and at every plastic pop riveted tie down use use a 3/16" drill bit and drill out the rivets...****MAKE NOTE TO HAVE REMOVED THE RIVETED HOLD DOWNS, THEY WILL BE USE TO REINSTALL INTO THIS SHELL!!***

Once all lines are removed including fuel filter assy.. install the donor cars fuel lines (rear end will most likely need to be dropped or removed for this step.).. Also install donor cars fuel filter bracket assy... then fuel tank can be installed..**if there is any body work that requires welding the prime time to do so, especially rear quarter wise is while there is no tank in the car**

I'll put pics up soon of these steps.. As I have some welding body work to do for a quarter repair.. and I am going to install the fuel lines, tank, and exhaust system at the same time that I install the 8.8 from the donor car.. so during that time there will be a huge post with lots of pics and as well as poly bushing install on whole rear end.. for now while I have access.. everything under the car will now be sound deadened and undercoated. .

Looking at the wiring for the 94-98 models wiper motor vs. The wiring for the 99-04.. Ko da crazy all the colors line up....minis one important wire. . The yellow with a red stripe.. This is what I believe to be your main power source for the 94-98 models..

99-04.

post-86-1397078684345_thumb.jpg

And 94-98

post-86-13970787420728_thumb.jpg

Sooo.. to avoid wiring this and bypassing this or that.. I got a deal on a 94-98 model wiper motor to swap into this shell.. (****add that to the list of needed items!!****)

Galaxy S4 Active

Started some body work till I get a free day to pull the engine and trans..

Cut out the only small rust spot I could find on the car I cut a section from the old car for a patch.. I'll be welding and filling it soon.

post-86-13972666911557_thumb.jpg

Also poly resin filled the trunk holes.. for a wingless trunk lid look.. hoping to find an 03-04 cobra spoiler reasonable for a replacement.. till then it's wingless. .

Found a small rust spot on the pass side frame and starting into the shock tower.. sooo.. I'll be heading to lowes, grab a adequately gauge piece of steel to weld in and call it a day.. normally. I wouldn't worry, but I took a hammer and pounder a hole right through.. but no biggie.. Easy fix with the engine out! !.. I'm also going to Degrease the shit out of the engine bay.. and undercoat from the frame rails down to prevent anymore rust later

Well got the panel, welded it in, undercoated the shit out of it.. and painted it as close to the oem color as possible.. either way.. much better than the rust hole that used to occupy this area.. I went much bigger on the repair panel.. reason is.. strength and rigidity..
