The Sexual Teal Whale Vagon

Recommended Posts

Never throught the day would come that I started a thread in @tony's garage but here I am....

Since the motor incident on the whale cannon, it was a huge blow to the ego, after a bunch of thought and time away from it I decided that the cannon would be going coyote swap to race it in coyote stock. While I knew the plan, I wasn't motivated enough to start that project yet. After seeing JoAnna now in a V making almost double the power that her mustang made, it was only a matter of time until the juices started flowing.

For me, there was no other option for me than getting a m6 wagon. I was in no rush to buy so I sat and watched autotrader, Craigslist, and any other sites I could think of every morning and usually afternoon too.

I had been watching this one for a while and once the owner dropped price I knew this would be the one. Black being my least favorite option, I figure if a deal came up then I'd just wrap it.

After some back and forth and waiting around on local tire kickers I picked her up from Long Island with 18,400 miles on it and couldn't be happier. The car cosmetically wasn't in the best of shape but for the price I couldn't say no.

Here she is in all of her bone stock glory

Soon the real fun began which was wrapping he car. I'll elaborate some more on this endeavor later!

Thus far, I've put in a Creative Steel Short throw with a hurst ball and let me say it increased the experience of the car 10-fold. The previous shifter felt like a flaccid dick trying to slam gears, wouldn't go in gear like trying to go in dry with less than half mast.

Also ready for install is Kooks long tubes and off road X, considering donating the Katech mufflers from the mustang to the vagon to give it more louds since I think Jo's is just mildly too quiet with the OEM mufflers.

Stay tuned for more!

Thanks guys! Yupp @Prokiller still have the truck (for now), I'm 1100 miles away from 100,000 and i think once I cross that threshold, it'll drop value drastically for how much I'll load miles onto it. I've been fiddling with the idea of selling it once i get it back from having warranty timing chain replaced and getting a diesel since mileage doesn't seem to have a huge impact on value.

Congrats on the purchase.  The color looks fantastic on that car.  I can't believe you did that yourself, though.  I would have the thing fucked 6 ways from Sunday in about 10 minutes if I tried to wrap it myself.

Those cars are awesome.  A real good friend of mine has a M6 V Wagon.  It's got a pulley, E85 setup, all sorts of other goodies on it... and two car seats.  It shames a ton of stuff around here.

Gracias dudes! It actually wasn't toooo bad wrapping the whole thing, you start to pick up a little bit of strategy as you go, luckily there aren't too many complex curves on the car!

Got caught doing wagon things at a car show this weekend. Won the loud exhaust competition with open mid pipes hahaha put on kooks long tubes and offroad x so figured i'd take advantage of the incomplete modification!

I found it pretty funny how many people managed to stall their cars during that contest lol.

Honestly you, the guy right after you and the blue GTO were the only ones that sounded good to me. The BMW racing livery car was sexy as F*** though

I'll agree with you completely on that one. That clown with the GTO thinks you need to sit with rake like that to hook up at the track......oh some people -__-

Yea that stance gave me a "Dafuq?" reaction... his stance looks like he runs a set of these at the track, but in reality he prob runs some 275 drag radials lol.

Well been a while since I updated this last. A lot of little things here and there with once nice big surprise coming for 2017 =D

After wrapping the car and letting Jo rock the black wheels for a while, I finally got my OEM satin black wheels back.

All in all nothing too exciting was done to the wagon this summer, just a whole lot of driving. Ended up clocking almost 10,000 miles from when I bought it in March until I moved it the other day.

I think really the only thing I did after the exhaust competition was getting the axle back refabricated and we reused the Katech's off the sn95 since they're LS mufflers anyways =p

Boogieing right along, In preparation of our trip to Pittsburgh C&C with super bald tires, we decided to swap Jo's verde's onto the wagon

They don't look bad but definitely don't look great. Can't exactly determine why but it is what it is. So early October we finally god to take her to the strip:

Don't have any readily accessible videos but best she did a 12.4 @113, not too bad for a 4500lb luxary wagon =D

To give a media update for ya'll, my buddy Liam, (LEP Automotive) decided to make a blog of us building the wagon and random other shenanigans. I'm sure most of you on facebook or IG have seen the entry clip on the beginning but if not, enjoy! This video also describes the endeavor I went through in getting the 2 step to work as well.

hahaha well, I had the truck through June, clicked 100k on it, sold it, picked up a used 6.7L f350 and that's the daily now =D I needed something that was going to hold value while I rack up 40-50,000 miles a year on it for work and everything else that I do.

Alright so about that thing that I was talking about @Lanter.....Well first off I need to begin by apologizing to my Source family, except for a select few of you, this has been a largely kept secret since approximately September of last year. It's now to the point that I'm so excited for it to be done that I have to share, I also need some opinions from ya'll who I trust the most!

So here it goes.

The day was February 26th, 2016, at this point, I believe I was in the process of convincing myself that buying a black wagon was going to be a good idea because I could wrap it. So where else to start? Well obviously everyone's favorite wide bodied, HRE Rocking, Cargo Box repping, bagged wagon. Well this went together and became the inspiration for the build appearance wise.

24914352339_b87e43f92a_b.jpg

Fast forward to NMRA Bowling Green. At this point the wagon was where it was in the last post. So we're hanging out, watching some races, having a grand ole time, and I get an Instagram notification. Open it up and my buddy had tagged me in the post of a bagged wagon. No big deal, figure I'd ask the guy what kit he was running, how he pieced it together, not thinking anything other than gaining some knowledge of bag kits for these cars. Well as luck would have it that day, I ask him how it's set up, he responds back with "I'm actually getting ready to trade the car in and put it back to stock, you interested in the kit?" Well you can bet your fucking ass I'm interested! Well needless the say, I was the proud new owner of a bag kit =P

31865088090_9a18126f1b_b.jpg

32240823625_14900ab4c3_b.jpg

32092094612_7fbac9f828_b.jpg

Specs on the kit are as follows:

Airlift 3P Management

Dual 2.5gallon Tanks

Dual Viair 444c Compressors

BC Racing Coilovers

Airlift Bags

All the hardlines and wiring harnesses to make it work as well as resistors for the Mag Ride Sensors.

Being that I can't leave anything alone, once I decided to start messing with the kit, it wasn't long before I started switching some things up to make it my own. The red looked cool but it just definitely wasn't at home in the Sexual TEAL Whale Vagon.

32202683136_f082e414b7_b.jpg

The first tank was in good condition so I just wrapped directly overtop of the existing red power. The second tank was a little beat up with the powder having a few spots starting to lift, so as you likely could of guessed, a liberal amount of aircraft stripper was applied:

Now that the tanks were all wrapped, it was time to start mocking everything up. All in all, the install of the actual coils and bags were easy once I figured out how the OEM suspension came apart. Unfortunately I decided to neglect taking pictures of removal of the OEM shocks/struts and putting the front back together.

Jumping right into it, here's a few pictures of the rear bags going together with the BC Racing coils

31809179175_ca849424e8_b.jpg

31771882716_ec051ed276_b.jpg

Upon completion of the rear bags, it was aboslutely necessary to check out the fitment on the 18" radials  I picked up for the track.

31809175355_416eb8661c_b.jpg

Looking pretty damn good but nothing to write home about. Moving right along, tore the trunk apart to get the rear package tray out in order to mock up the new bag kit.

31771882626_8b1738dffc_b.jpg

30968498264_b8fef326b4_b.jpg

I must say, at this point I was chomping at the bit to get it all finish installed in the car! Love the look of the hardline but hate the compression fittings, so cheap looking. Add that to the list of things to do later.

Mock up and install in the car came next:

30999530603_ecb7999870_b.jpg

31771881656_bf88fc880f_b.jpg

The next steps were pretty uneventful. It involved pulling everything back out of the trunk, drilling holes through the rear package tray, and then through the body for the PTC fittings to pass through. Being that the car needed to be running to get full power to the compressors, I rigged up a "dyno style" exhaust for out my garage window haha

With most of the hard work done, I shifted attention back to cosmetic and installed the APR Splitter I got from the guy I bought the kit from and rewrapped the driver side of the front bumper.

PARDON THE DUST

31430697213_bce629e110_b.jpg

Back to the air kit, because this saga is still going on. Elaborating on the reason why I dislike the compression fitings, because every single god damn one leaked in one way or the other. So once I got the motivation back, I tore the trunk back apart and started converting everything over to JIC 37 flare fittings. For those who don't know, JIC 37 fittings are basically the same exact thing as AN fittings but in steel.

The hardline from the compressor to the tank was swapped in favor of a Stainless braided line. The bulkhead looking things you see are there because the Push to Connect cartridges in the manfiold can't grip into steel lines because steel is too hard of a metal:

31865035040_3c7cb4e384_b.jpg

And inserted back into the trunk

31399666694_4b51fa3372_b.jpg

While this didn't 100% solve the leaking issue, it worked enough to get Jo's wheels fitted back on the wagon since I'm going to be buying them off her since she's switching to a full time drag pack.

I can't say that I was confident these would tuck at all being a 20x11 with a 305/35r20 on it, but holy shit was i proved 100% wrong.

32240777755_f642757005_b.jpg

This now brings us 98% up to date. As of now, I've tracked the leaks backwards to the cartridges in the manifold itself. As long as I can successfully remove these and tap the hole for a 3/8 NPT, I should be able to confidently run 100% hardlines in the trunk without worry. I'll know more about that possible tomorrow!

so the splitter just mounts to the bumper cover and not to anything solid?  Every time I have seen someone mount that to just the bumper itself, they were sorry later.  Splitters can generate some serious downforce and I don't think bumper covers are made to handle it.  Love the air ride of course glad to see another!

Nah, it's mounted to the cradle underneath as well. I was going to drop down brackets from the crash bar but the guy

it from said he neever had issues. I'll probably pick up some of those fancy FTR carbon rods soon and do it that way since they absolutely need to be longer.

Thank you sir! You'll get there eventually! I was graced by a single project at a time haha!

So what does everyone think about the wheel color? The bronze is ok but I don't love it. I was leaning towards doing something out of the box, maybe anthracite or charcoal face and yellow or teal inner barrel?
