Jeremy95GT
Currently I think I'd argue with a stop sign, so take nothing I say to heart at the moment...With that being said... F*ck an STi... See there I did it again...Sent from my phone using tapatalk
Brian
Honestly, if I were in the market for another "fun" car it would be an STi. My Cobra is nice and all but I just am in a phase right now where it's not at the front of my interests which is why it's basically just sitting. When I do drive it I get that "why haven't I driven this more" feeling but the STi I had was by far the best car I've own. Not just for the power it had but everything about it. Minus MPG. iRoush
i did a canyon run with a bunch of Subies about a year ago back when my car was slow in a straight line. They would pull hard on me in a straight line but I surprised them all by being on their asses through every single corner after they were talking about how my SRA is "caveman built" haha. Venom351R
My buddy who's fox that is that I posted pics of, spanks sti's in the corners... Just sayin, I have no proof at the moment, only video I have of him is just him raping a porshe on VIR.... So if u have a mustang that's dedicated to the corners, not every sti will rape a mustang... Just trying to justify what I was saying .... Brian, do u have the build thread of ur Subi on this site? I need to look at it, lol those are some clean lookin rally car lookin things...Edit.... Just finished reading... Venom did say stock for stock... He is correct... My bad lol I'm arguing for no reason, that may be the Bacardi oak heart in my system lolYour seriously not getting it. I never said NO MUSTANG or NO AMOUNT OF MODS will make a Mustang better in the corners then an STI. I said Stock VS Stock b/c over all the STI is a more well rounded performance car then pretty much any Mustang until you get into the likes of the 302 Boss or the 2000 R. MMR
I would never personally buy a mitsubishi. The ones my parents and grand parants had were nothing but start problems and electrical issues and not to mention poor build quallity and rust problems.Maybe they have improved on that with the new ones, I don't know....but I will just never buy one after what we went through with ours, same goes for Nissans and any French or Italian car for the average person (high end cars are another story). Det_Riot
alright guys lets kiss and make up  Everyone has their own preference and all cars are built for different reasons. Saying stock vs stock is still an ambiguous argument in itself. Stock vs stock what? 00 sti? 05? 10? vs what? stock foxbody? stock termie? stock boss? See what I'm getting at? Brian
ROID RAGE!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHSide note, I don't want a car that the company also makes TVs and ACs. Lol. I was all about the EVO and still think they look good but after that everything about them is nothing compared to the STi.
Forcefedhatch
Yea, but you can get a running fox for 2k, add 5k in suspension (although you know that in itself is a load of crap, but since you put that number out there) $7k.Now, go and find me a 7 thousand dollar sti that runs without blowing up.I love the cars, I've driven a few, some 400+ awhp. But, I was just noting a flaw in your argument.Actually I have built quite a few wrx's for less than 7k that rally cross,go in straight lines, or take the twisted very well.. Noted not an STI but still inferior to it and still outperformed my mustang except in the straight line, but it was close..Sent from my iPhone

As compared to Mustangs which change something up every year even if its just a bump in HP. Then again why fix whats not broken

AZSN95SNAKE
No idea what's being argued in here, of course the STi is a much overall better car than the old sn95 cobra lol or almost any mustang before the 11' excluding the 03/04 cobra and cobra R and 95R. Them japs put a lot more detail and time into their cars. The STi is one hell of a car. In its price category and all the things it can do its a great buy. Even though the Evolution has had some unfortunate issues, I'm still an evo power guy myself. I was actually into rally long before mustangs lol.One thing I will note though, my old sn95 cobras interior has held up better than my friends STi. His thing rattles like no other, the stock stereo on those cars suck! No reception whatsoever. But I would love an STi although my car has proven to be more reliable and able to hold up to mods.** Oh and no idea why you guys are seeing a blurry video; nobody on SVTP experienced such issues. ALSO, not bad for an 8 year old "rust bucket flipped over reservation decoration yada yda yda" mustang (according to the sti owner in the vid) whooping on a much newer car. <<< And don't give me the 4 cylinder crap because we all know STi's are more than capable.Brian: your old STi was just pure win! Best color of them all!

And the car was running when you got it?That's what I'm getting at.And stock for stock is a worthless argument when you are talking about a car that is more than double the cost, and in most cases triple. Again, I like STI's, but you just can't be like "well price doesn't matter because I said stock for stock"It'd just be plain embarassing if a car that costs that much more wasn't better, stock for stock. I'd rather have the extra dough in my pocket, in investments, or in mods to my cheaper car. But, to each his own.
Venom351R
Just keep on poking Travis haha.If you really want to see poking I could go post that video over on SVTP with the title "check out this ass beating"Besides its not poking, its enlightenment. I'm trying to provide a public service One thing I will note though, my old sn95 cobras interior has held up better than my friends STi. His thing rattles like no other, the stock stereo on those cars suck! No reception whatsoever. But I would love an STi although my car has proven to be more reliable and able to hold up to mods.its a compromise. WRX/STI interior has always been on the lower end side. The Imprezza line is the entry level model for subaru. The STi is well built all around car, sure mine ratttles yes the radio sucks but do you know what I get for all of that..... Incredible reliability, amazing stock performance power wise and handling,Symmetrical AWD!!!..... I could go on and on. My whole point is I believe that when it comes to performance cars being domestics or imports the best well rounded overall car out there is the STi. It does everything well and can go in whatever direction you want performance wise w/ out having to make cuts in other areas. If you build it for all power and to go straight in a straight line then it still has its AWD and it will still corner like a beast. My Cobra is built to go fast in a straight line and my ride quality is horrid and it does not take corners for shit...just an example.Price tag for price tag it is still the better car IMO. Take the new 5.0. Sure it comes with more power but it does not handle as well and it does not have AWD. Anyone here want to dare to take a new 5.0 out in a snow storm and cruise the roads at 50MPH at the regular speed limits, and yes you get snow tires. I only bring that up b/c Ive done in in the STi many times in the past two winters. This car kicks old man winter square in the balls. The price tag argument is not a fair one when when adding in the price of the car. Especially when talking about dirt cheap fox's. For one they are older then more modern cars so they are cheaper, secondly look at the starting price of the car as compared to an STi which starts out at 30K. Mine was 3 years old when I got it and still had a sticker price of 25K...Hold their value much??? What is more fair to compare is how much $$ does it take to get car A to go as fast as the STi to this set time of ( insert 1/4 time here) What I'm trying to say is you can take a stock STi and get a cobb stage 2 power package and tune which will bump the power to 330-350 and the PSI to almost 20 and generally car with these mods I have seen run 12.6 to 12.8 in the 1/4. The cost of that power package is $1,700. It includes a Cobb Access Port tuner, down pipe and catback system, and you could also throw on and intake to get a little more out of it. MMR
So in other words; the EVO won because it has alot of electronics that is constantly controling the car, where as the STI is more a purist driving machine.
Venom351R
The EVO/STi battle has been going back and forth for quite awhile. Overall I see a lot more WRX/STi's on the road then I do EVO's. Hell the house a few over from me has 2 WRX's not to mention the one I always see at subway in town and another white STi I see every so often and there are about 2 other blue ones. Ive never driven an EVO and really dont care to. Its like if you are a Mustang fan you have no real desire to drive a Camaro.I did not even know that driving school existed, Dalton NH is one state over from me.( For MMR since hes across the pond)http://team-oneil.com/index.htm Edited November 20, 2012 by Venom351R
