Steve-Oh
What started out as me trying to figure out and overheating issue, took a retarded 180* turn. Started taking the top end apart last July 2011: http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/3e266b81.jpg Then I thought for a little (which in my case is never a good thing). I had saved up some cash so I decided to go for a new motor. Next was taking the old pig out: http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/235a6a91.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/GOPR0074resized.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/GOPR0100resized.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/GOPR0083resized.jpg Deciding on what route I wanted to go was a tough one. I was throwing around the idea of buying a whole motor or just having mine rebuilt. Decisions decisions decisions.... So this is how she sat while my mind ran around in circles: http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/0ae04521.jpg ...and sat.... http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/e2cd9eda.jpg Finally came to the conclusion that I'm getting a new motor from FRPP. So Easter of 2012 I ordered and FRPP 351W and a week later this big box showed up at my door: http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/photo1-2.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/photo2-2.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/photo3-2.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/photo4.jpg Then parts seemed to just start accumulating all over my house! http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/6d60f97e.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/6292cde0.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/6b92a7a7.jpg Then just recently I started mocking some things up and took the time to get it out of the crate and onto a stand I made. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj179/whereamioo7/a26edcc0.jpg
Steve-Oh
And then the update from today:Decided today to rip the tank out, empty the old ugly gas and install the fuel pump. It's not too much of a pain besides the fact I had at least 8 gallons of gas in the tank which made it cumbersome for one person. Also had to go out and buy the fuel line disconnect tools and a siphon... and of course I spilled gas everywhere! Regardless, the actual install went pretty good. The only issue I had was when putting the assembly back in I sliced the insulation on the hot wire which I assumed was probably a bad thing. So I had to take it back out and redo the wires, not too bad.I had an epiphany when I was standing around watching paint dry that I still had my MM control arms sitting around. So back to work I went only to be halted by rotted out hardware. The rear-most bolt was pretty bad so I decided to stop and clean up. Got the drivers side sort of on, the rear is just being held up by the jack. Ordered new hardware shortly after a swim in the pool so they should be here in a week.I'm still waiting on powder coat to get done with my manifolds, valve covers, and acc brackets so I can continue on putting the stupid thing in!! Probably should start a thread in the Events section lol I had slight issues with my 10" wide Saleens with 315 BFG DR's (they run wide) so if you're running anything smaller I don't see why you would have any problems! Steve-Oh
Little update for today.Since the Water pump/timing chain cover combo that came with the motor is incorrect, I bought new ones from FRPP. Not a big deal but when I went to put it on I realized I needed hardware as I'm not re-using the hardware off the old motor (the hardware that came on the new motor are too long). So I'm going to try and make a call to the place where Paul got his purty stainless hardware from, which conveniently is in Gettysburg, PA! Not to be defeated, I decided to move to the back and put the flywheel/clutch/bellhousing on. Not bad at all once I realized that it's easier to hammer the clutch pins in the flywheel OFF the motor instead of on! Huge help. Anyways here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure. Masked off and painted the front cover: Before AfterBellhousing masked and painted:Before:After:And all together:The paint matches the block pretty good but it's not exact, I'll live with it. I used Dupli-colors Engine Enamel primer & Ford dark blue paint FYI. Also you may notice that the colors between the front cover and bellhousing don't look the same. No worries, it's just the lighting!

Steve-Oh
Yadda yadda yadda....Finally got my junk back from powder coat... They did an EXCELLENT job, well worth the wait. Had everything done what they called a "mini texture" flat black color (inspiration from Venom's car). Mocked everything up after I excessively rinsed and dried everything to make sure to get any remaining blast media out. I will say I'm kindof upset about the valve covers, I couldn't really find any aftermarket ones that I liked and the ones that came with it def won't fit. Oh well, hopefully the factory covers don't hit the rockers or I'm gonna need to find an alternative.Anywho here are some pics...Here it is mocked up with the covers that came with it:And again with the factory covers from the old motor: Again I don't think they look bad, just the other one's look way cooler! Steve-Oh
Words cannot describe the awesomeness, Steve.Much thanks Dutch!Well I ran into an issue that I was not aware of. Called Ford Racing Tech and they very helpfully walked me through the process I'm dreading to attempt. Need to take the fuel pump eccentric off the cam gear so the new cover fits on. Do it wrong and the a.) incorrect pin size will fall out while running and cause chaos ; b.) when changing everything out the cam moves separate the crank and causes a valve to smash into the top of the piston. So needless to say I talked to them Friday about it and haven't touched it since! *Fear*!!! They said if I take pictures for them so they know exactly which cam gear pin I have they can tell me if I can leave it alone and just take the fuel pump eccentric ring off or if I have to screw with it. Possible solutions would be to adjust the rockers a few turns back to alleviate the pressure on the valves or to modify the old dizzy to hold the cam in place (ie weld the gear solid on the shaft to make it rigid). All just thoughts.

Steve-Oh
I hate stuff like that =/Dude it was terrible. To take this stupid ring off I had to adjust all the rockers back which I'm sure I screwed up. They're def close to what they were but I might have my shop check it out first. I checked all the rods to make sure they were tight and what not and the rocker arm location looked the same as they did before I started. Just gotta drop the thing in now...
