PC vs MAC

Some pictures of my rig. I'll take some inside pictures soon. The case has streaks because I had wiped it down with a cleaning wipe. Oh well it'll dry.

Haha thanks bud. It works pretty darn well!! It looks like a transformer too :)

It also helps that the case has 3 180mm push fans on the bottom and a pull fan up top with the entire top venting. The case is completely insulated so all fans on high right next to me you can barely hear it.

It's computer porn!!

:fap:

Not really.....Dell owns alien ware but its still a completely different division ....kinda like how owning a v6 mustang isn't comparable to a gt500

I love dell though. Never had any problems with them.

When my hinge started making noise on my alien ware they sent a technician to.my house and replaces the whole lid and keyboard free of charge....just to give you an idea of the kind of customer service you get when you buy an alienware

Nice I rock an AW also. It's no longer what I bought 7 years ago though, completely re-built the guts last year.

Nice, thats crazy that a 7 year old computer is even usable today.

Im very happy with my AW purchase although I have been entertaining the idea of putting together a custom desktop PC. You can built a crazy powerful desktop for like 500-600 bucks.

The little AW laptop is so powerful Ive been using it as my desktop....just have it displaying on a 24 inch LED with a wireless keyboard and mouse

Yeah but I can build what you have for half the cost and it would run better. I don't buy window machines I just build them it's way less money with less garbage installed on them.

That's kind of a weird thing to say considering

1) you dont know what I have

2) you dont know what I paid for it

Im not an idiot man, the first thing I do/ tell people to do when purchasing a PC is a fresh OS install to wipe all the bloatware.....I also have my PC setup with dual boot and run Linux most of the time im just browsing anyway....my computer runs lightning fast on linux.

Its a laptop.... if it were a desktop id agree with you 100% on that one

Unfortunately it doesnt seem like you can build custom laptops like a custom desktop....especially considering my AW is an 11 inch model that I specifically bought due to the size and build quality of the unit as a whole.

Laptops are to fucking expensive to build. My logic board went out in mine and it's a 1000.00 for a new one. Wtf

I got bored, so I came in here. I used to be the biggest Mac fan, but recently I have swayed away due to some bad luck. My wife dropped $400 on the mega 160gb ipod a few years ago. The hard drive on it lasted exactly 14 months, which is 2 months out of warranty. The cost of repairing it through Apple was almost as much as buying a new one. I was lucky enough to score a used hard drive on ebay for it for $70. Then installing it was a bitch. Apple is too cheap to use screws to put their products together, they are all snapped together, and you have to bend the crap out of it to get it to come apart. Then my mom dropped $2K on a Macbook Pro. Guess what, the hard drive lasted exactly 14 months, which is 2 months out of warranty. She lives in Norway, and nothing is cheap there. It cost her $625 to replace the hard drive on it. I couldn't believe that Apple had fallen so far in quality, so I did some research on it. I found that Apple has a strict policy when looking for manufacturers. Unlike most computer companies that weigh different variables when choosing a manufacturer, Apple has a strict bidding policy, and always chooses the manufacturer that will build their products the cheapest.

I have a $100 limit when buying a desktop computer. I have always disliked Windows, and I find that the new Mac OS is even worse. I switched to Ubuntu about 3 years ago, and love it. It's lightning fast, easy to use, and never gets viruses.

In other news, I just inherited a first gen Xbox 360 from my brother. He is a big gamer, and doesn't use his Xbox anymore. The power supply to it died, and he lost all the cables. I just bought a used cable and power supply for it on ebay yesterday. My wife is not happy about it, but she'll have to deal. I also have a ton of games for it. I guess I can put the PS2 in the attic. My wife inherited that from her ex-husband.

Yeah, I hope that is not the case. My little brother bought this one the day 360 came out. He said the power supply just died on it about 2 years ago. If it doesn't work, I'm sure I can get enough money back just selling the games to get out of what I spent on the power supply.

Build a PC or build a Hackintosh, cost will be the same pretty much. No reason to go drop huge money on a Mac built by them out of parts you can buy on Newegg.

I build all my computers, but I buy laptops, usually wait for a good deal to come along. I recently picked up a 17" Acer A6 quad core I clocked to 2.3ghz that came out of the box with 6 gigs of ram and dual cross fired video cards. Will it set the world on fire? No but it runs Skyrim on ultra and it was $500 shipped.
