Daily Driver? Nah Super Sleeper Build

a buddy has a rx7 fc with a turbo 2.3 and im going to pretty much copy his engine mods. he put down 356rwhp at idk how much boost but it wasnt a whole ton. like 12 to 15 i think

well the only update i have is that i finally was able to fix my trans leak. because the fittings coming out of the trans to the radiator would not come loose from the trans no matter what i did. so friday i went under the car to give it another crack at since since i was leaking almost 1 qt every 100 miles. and when i went to bust it loose it came out so easy i was so suprised. went up to my local oreillys and $5 later i got a new line and boom 20 min later it was done. then yesterday at we put on a ranger and as i was taking the scrap out it had a nice tip on it so i cut it off and modified it to fit on the zephyr then went to my first car show.

i should be starting a new job next month so the new motor should come pretty fast. money is just to tight with the baby coming soon so i cant do much on it currently.

i want to put some mesh infront of the radiator to protect it from bugs and rocks since its brand new

the stereo i have in her. 2 6x9s and 2 6 1/4s in the deck lid running off a 75w jcwhitney retro style radio. sounds pretty damn good and clear for cheap speakers

so in the past couple days ive been working in my garage all day. finished up the zephyr, installed front brake pads and calipers, tie rods on my neighbors car.

so here comes the pics of the zephyr.

its coming along slow. i just cant wait to get it finished. went to my first of many car shows this year. didnt get a trophy because i slept in longer then i wanted and missed registration

Damn that's rough luck. Was it the one in downtown mount Clemens?

well actually i just found a great deal on a 5.0 and c4 for a GREAT price. it was in a 85 ranger on 31s until the guy twisted the frame and its been sitting for some years. but the guy started it for me all it needs is a refresh kit and a trans pan. im pricing out some eldabrock performer heads and performer intake idk what carb yet and cam. also got to decide on rockers and maybe a shift kit. so it looks like back to the 5.0 plans since i found that before the 2.3t

i would have to get a blow thru carb. but those are double the cost of a normal carb. im researching rebuild kits. where can i find a good one. im looking them up in summit right now and they have different bores. the motor is a stock 1983 302. all im doing to it this year is rebuild and a little dress up. then after some saving comes the heads intake and cam. wonder how long the rear end will take the five point hoes power

rebuild kit for a 302? or for a carb? summit should stock either. If you wanna rebuild the 302, I'd go forged everything and not have to worry about the bottom end anymore.

now onto looking up stuff for the c4 trans. how much do shift kits cost? its been sitting for around 10 years. what should i do to it on the cheap since im dropping a lot in the motor.

on a bad note i will have to cut the welds on the new crossmember since the motor and trans combo will be longer then the L4 and c3

motor will be here next week. as far and what i need to install it in the car im just going to get some mounts headers and a top end intake kit, but does anybody know how many splines are on the motor for a torque converter. its a 83 5.0 and c4

torque converters bolt upto the flywheel but the transmission side has female splines in the conterter and the trans has male splines. when i was looking it up i was getting different variations on number of splines.

but i thought i was getting the motor tomorrow but im not. i have to wait till next week or the week after.

but on another note i picked up a part to lighten up the nose a lot. i got a tubular k frame and manual rack

Nice! What manufacturer? Should make swapping the motor in a hell of a lot easier!
