Blocked the unnecessary o2 ports in my exhaust. Yes, I tightened them down but not before chasing the threads.

Took a random, 90* spark plug boot and repurposed it as a vacuum fitting for the MAP sensor.

Pulled the dash part to get to the factory cluster wiring. Removed the red/green + green/red wires and tied them together to complete the ignition to alternator circuit. Should charge now.

BUT.....

Now the stupid circuit breaker isn’t functioning at all. It is internally fooked somehow and I’m getting zero voltage with it closed.

Stupid POS MF....

One day, when I grow up, I will have some sort of lift. This struggling under the car on the carport floor is for the fucking birds. That said, I swapped my exhaust out

Now, for the first time ever, my car has a mostly new exhaust with the headers being the only used part.

The cast of characters:

BBK headers

BBK off-road x-pipe

Dynomax UltraFlo mufflers

Flowmaster Fox LX tail pipes

So, that bring us to the obligatory first start with the new mufflers video. This sum bitchin alternator still doesn’t seem to be charging, even with the completed dash circuit. That means it’s still not tuned and runs like shit but hey, it runs...

Changed some wiring up under the hood and now it actually runs on it’s own, but still didn’t charge.

New alternator!

We’re finding more issues:

  • MAP sensor is reading -2.36 inHg
  •  I’m picking up a replacement part now.
  • Plugs were shit and have been swapped out..

C5DA0582-D1B3-4CAD-8CE6-C881E8ED46F6.jpeg

  • Wideband sensor wasn’t even hand tight, d’oh!!
  •

Growing pains but on the right track.

Swapped out the MAP sensor and plugs. We will start tuning again at 1000 on Sunday. So, I moved on to bleeding the brakes. Decided to use a hand pump and I’ve been screwing myself for years. This is much easier than the old way.

image.jpeg

Just as I was finishing the job I noticed a fucking leak. It’s as tight as it can possibly get without damaging it so looks like I’ll be taking it apart, again. Suppose it’s better to find out this way and not by smashing into something.

Needed a victory so I populated the table for my fan controller. Hooray!! I’ll find out tomorrow if it works!!

This is good stuff. So glad to see that it was just the alternator, and that you straightened out the wiring for the idle. What was wrong with it?

On another note, I can see the vids but only some of the pics. Maybe it's me?

The voltage regulator needed a 12v reference from the ignition to charge.

I need to upload them instead of copy/paste..

Mother of God. Coyote time? I figured this whole B-motor swap was all about making sure you had a working mod motor car to facilitate an “easier” (fewer potential pushrod-to-mod motor conversion fail points) ‘Yote swap. If I’m wrong, it won’t be the first time.

You aren’t wrong. That was the goal initially and I’ve had the 5.0 since last September. Fell into a steal of a deal for a T56 Magnum and then I started collecting parts. Ran into some minor issues with the 4.6 and I wasn’t interested in troubleshooting the issues. Found a buyer who agreed to the right price and now the Coyote swap is in full swing.

When I smoke something I’ll add the appropriate wood chunks that I soaked overnight in water. So, the lump style works better?

Pretty surprised at how well Holley's coyote harness seems to fit in your photo.  I couldn't believe how poorly the 4V one fit when I got mine.  I've moved literally every plug on it.  If I could have done over I would have bought a flying lead or unterminated harness and did it myself.

The coil harness does lay out nicely. We will see how the rest fits in the next week or so.

I know what you mean about the 4V harness because some sections had too much slack and other not enough.

Easy Killer.. I just set it in place for a picture, I won’t be installing them u til the engine swap it finished. All of the mounting holes are there and the tabs on the inside as well. I’ll have to fabricate splash shields for the inside.

Took some time after work today to further my ambitions. Started by pulling the fenders, radiator, ac condenser, headlight wiring, pulled the front half of the fuel system out, most of the power steering system and put the steering rack back on. No more trying to push this pigeon toed bitch around!

Now I’m going to tell on myself. The transmission isn’t in the car.

Why? Neglect. What? Yes, neglect.

As in, I neglected to buy flywheel bolts and I don’t have a pilot bearing. I’m also missing a few coil pack bolts and the alignment dowels for the AC compressor. Not the end of the world but it would’ve been nice to have furthered this along.

Speaking of transmissions, the QuickTime bellhousing doesn’t fit with BBK headers. Period. The BFH made it all better though.

All in all, I’m not unhappy with the fact we knocked all of the internal engine upgrades out and dropped it into the car. That alone was no small feat.

Man.. I hate growing pains. That Coyote intake to Fox TB plate is easily 1/2” thick and might have to go.

Loosely set things in place and shut the hood to confirm my suspicion. Knocked it loose immediately. Granted the hood is closing a bit more than it should, as the “bumpers” aren’t in place, I still think it would possibly interfere.

Thanks mate. It was a good day and we only had a few delays. Had to run out for a 12-pt 19mm socket around lunch. Which cost @LWARRIOR1016 a radiator hose in his 98 GT. Went back to the house to get my truck, return to a different Oreillys for said hose AND THEN go wait 20-25 minutes at Popeye’s for lunch. At which time I realized I didn’t know where my bell housing index plate was. 😂😂 We pissed a good 1.5-2 hrs away before we started to see things weren’t going to complete.
