anyone with a map?

Recommended Posts

We should probably lay out the course a little better for the 2014 cruise. Turning around in the McDonald's parking lot was surely a treat for all of those unsuspecting customers. Nothing like a car show rolling through the parking lot!

One more suggestion - it would be cool to make it a bit longer too. I remember stopping at one of the ramps two years ago and everyone caught up, and we all got to take some pics! That was a good time.

Haha yah the McDonald's turn around was kinda ridiculous. We talked about this with Sean at the mall. Some other ideas we were throwing around was to have a handful of guys park along the way to "direct" traffic (if you saw steve-oh was doing on the off ramp)

This was what I posted on the forums. I guess I could try to fit it on the flyers.

Mike where do you remember where we stopped? I remember I stopped before the first ramp to let everyone get through the lights. We just kind of stopped on the road but if that's what you're talking about, I didn't know people got out and took pictures lol.

Sean this was good for us on the forum but for those that aren't on it got confusing. If need to be next year I can help direct people. We should all get together a night during mustang week and discuss how it should be directed if that makes any sense at all?

You guys went to Hibachi?!?! ... Damnit lol. Amateur move going down on Tuesday, I'll be there Saturday to Sunday next year.

I believe Sean said in the group address before we left the direction at which to leave the parking lot and everyone went the opposite way. This basically tells me not everyone was paying attention in the beginning lol. I'll absolutely volunteer next year to post up at an exit and help with printing/passing out route flyers. It's really hard to organize something this big (75 cars I think this year, well 74 working cars ;O) ) so there is a learning curve and I'm sure next year things will be even better!

That he did Steve. I was a passenger as most of you know because of my damn brake issue. But next year I won't be. So I will help do whatever we need to get this to be a huge huge cruise!!!

I definitely told everyone we were going to turn left, but whatevs. I'll print the map (Black and white) on the flyers, it's just hard to squeeze everything in there. I just try to have the "SN95 Cruise" phrase in big letters so people notice that. I'm trying to think if it would be a good idea to stop before the first ramp again. I think that's what Mike was talking about. I was on the phone with my buddy in the back so he told me once he was through the light and we continued. However, I'm trying to remember how much room there is between the last light and the first ramp. Can we fit all the cars there? haha. We basically just stopped in the right lane because I don't think there was a shoulder.

Me and my room buddy's normally go the cruise route on our way to Hooters Thursday morning/noon to refresh our memory. You guys can join our little test cruise (maybe take some rolling shots on the highway) if you want so we will all know what's going on. Although you all knew where we were going already.

That is a good idea to do it before hand Sean. Maybe try and put the map on the back side of the flyer so you don't have to make the front any smaller? This was a great cruise and i enjoyed it. I know I'm not bitching at anything just trying to help make it one of the biggest and best that is down there!

The picture is good. The speech before hand was perfect! As you said, not everyone was that coherent on an early saturday morning when we are all on vacation :)

My idea, which I didnt want to get into details when I posted it last night:

1. Use google maps (online) to plot the route

2. Add destinations / waypoints. This way you can speak to A (turn left) or C (stop here and wait for everyone to catch up). youc an also label some of them as checkpoints. have people there taking video or pictures or even directing traffic so everyone knows they are on course

3. Then at the end of it all, you can email the link to yourself. you can even do this after a trial run while we are down there.

4. Give the speech in the morning and tell everyone there is a link to the route.

5. If you have an android phone or even an iPhone you can use google maps. Copy that link from wherever and mass text it to everyone that is there.

6. Tell them to mass text their friends they showed up with. By the time we leave the parking lot, everyone will have the course plotted on their smartphones.

FOOLPROOF - follow the blue dot

I'll contribute also!

About the police escort - it may be a lot of $$ to hire them, but the least we can do is let them know what we are doing so there's no surprises. It will show that we are trying not to be troublemakers.

The reason for the cost is the use of off duty officers, if you have someone posted at the deviation points to get the traffic started in the right direction the line will usually stay on track.

Your crew could then leap frog to the next point, that is how "we" do it. If I have my SSP there next year it has lights, I can help with trouble spots if needed.
