Steve-Oh
Here you go Kaitlyn... Just a little love for the turbo termi from a local dyno day a few years back. Sorry for the poor quality, this was back in '05/'06 before HD camera's were on every mobile phone :Smiley-1:

justinschmidt1
lets just say this... pretty much nothing is stock on that car...haha....ugh, just a huge FYI, either put stock cams in it or get turbo specific cams. You will lose a ton of power if you have some blower cams in there. Guest mustang_gtchick
yeah cams are a huge key to getting the most HP really, but the cars engine is fully built inside and out
Brian
Just because the engine is fully built inside and out doesn't mean it's built for the application you're changing to. That's what Justin is saying. Your cobra was built to have that TS not a turbo. That's why they make turbo cams for turbo cars and blower cams for blower cars, etc.
Brian
I'm also curious to know the full specs on the build.
justinschmidt1
exactly, im saying there could be like 200 hp difference between turbo cams and some blower cams......its that big
Guest mustang_gtchick
i understand that, thats like saying a 4 banger cam will work with a V8 swap... the cams in the car dont have too big of a lift so i will see if they will be ok for the car or if getting a different set will help the car much better. I will be having Kurgan helping me get the best combo
Brian
Not to be rude but yes or no, do you know the build specs? If you don't know that's fine. No shame in that. But that's what we are interested in but still haven't gotten any response that show you are going to provide them.
justinschmidt1
Its not the lift, its the overlap that will get you on a turbo car.

Number Tew
I thought it had more to do with duration, valves staying open too long making building boost more difficult.Correct me if I'm wrong.
Guest mustang_gtchick
yes? i dont buy car without paper work or proof of it, im not going by someones word if its got this and that. Ive seen people have their cars blown up over this

Ive seen people have their cars blown up over thisI never said anything about you buying a car or anything of the nature. We are just interested in the specs of your build... It'll help better figure out how it's going to run... If you don't want to provide them then you can simply say you don't want to for whatever reason. I'm not saying anything outside of asking for the list for us to look at.

justinschmidt1
I mean theres not much you can do put port a set of 4v heads and throw some cams in it....its not that serious lolTheres really no need to even touch the heads or cams on those motors cause they flow so well stock

I dont want to post my cars specs because its really anyones business to be posted on the internet. ive stated a few mods in the past but now its pretty much going to be a different car and i prefer to keep it to myself

Guest mustang_gtchick
as of right now i will say the car has comp cams, 60 pound injectors, manly rods and pistons, ported heads, but it does have a stock crank... i dont know if that will change. Because of the turbo switch i will be selling my kooks long tubes, and my custom LFP heat exchanger
Forcefedhatch
I'm going to tell you now with all respect, with that being a rooted blower car and not based on progressive boost, it will be a dog until the 4500 or so range, then it's going to heat drivetrain so fast it'll either A.) break loose in a very dangerous wayOr B.) wear the parts so fast you still be breaking the "built" stuff, what kind of suspension bracing do you have, torque boxes, etc.. I'm going to say I'm really kind of worried with overlap on that cam if you want to see anything much more than you have, throughput needs to be reset and designed for your new setup, honestly stock cams will be a world of difference alone, and tuning will be much more in your favor.. I'm kinda getting the notion that you don't really know the specifics of this car, and I'm not downing you, I'm just trying to help..Not much more I can do if I don't have the specifics from the start..Sent from my iPhone

Guest mustang_gtchick
LOL no worries! thank you for the help everyone, i need as much as possible being i dont know a whole bunch on this subject. Im sure there will be things i will need to change in the motor. If i do remember right i dont think ive ever heard a turbo car with a hige lift, why is this? do they not benefit from a cam as much as a blown car? The whole point was so you could hear that glorious turbo spool up and I felt it fit the requirements! It was def a purty car, kindof stole the show at the "dyno day". In my head i was thinking "am i doing the right thing?!?!?"You've got an auto with a high stall....you will be fine.It might lag a bit but once it spools you wont be losing boost and it will come in fast once the car is moving anyway. What rear gear is in the car? 3.55?
