98SnakeHorse
Well looks like times are changing and it's time to get budget blue onto another sn95 forum. For those that have not seen the car I bought this thing in the fall of 2014 as a cheap project car to tinker with over time. I just bought a house and had a kid on the way so I didnt have a lot of funds to work with. Car was in very rough shape, owned by a young kid that didnt take good care of it but I could tell I could bring some life back into it. Its a 98gt with 143k on the clock 5spd with cloth interior. Car when I went to look at it......
98SnakeHorse
Then I got the car home. Immediately decided I hate the NPI motor's power and decided to swap in a complete 02 PI motor out of a LTC.... Fixed the Dent in the bumper
98SnakeHorse
Arrival of the PI Engine..... Time to rip this tired thing out.... And the mess it left behind........

Also had to go with some longtubes. Had to clean up the transmission Back in the engine goes...

98SnakeHorse
For the 2016 season I decided to pull the motor over the winter to clean up the engine bay and shred some weight while adding more suspension stuff. Coilovers with vikings springs More engine detailing getting ready for the engine, wire tuck and abs block delete...
98SnakeHorse
Built an entire new exhaust for the car (has some cost savings) Sounds good but is very loud Decided to black the roof and A-pillars of the car. This was in attempt to help hide the sunroof lol.
98SnakeHorse
I ended up pulling the trigger at the last minute and bought a supercharger for the car. Was ready to make more power. Here is how she looked summer of 2016

98SnakeHorse
Here is some track photos from 2016. I was able to get the car down to a 7.7 at around 92mph at that time. Was hoping to squeeze some more hp out of the car so ended up going with a FMIC for some cooler intake temps. 98SnakeHorse
Now we are getting closer to present day. This last winter I decided to make some updated exterior appearances as well as somewhat major engine modifications. 4" Cowl Hood New drag wheels Topped off with some new tires
98SnakeHorse
Now for the 2017 season I really wanted to crank up the boost and have a reliable 2v engine that was 600rwhp capable. Had to start somewhere so I decided t build my old spare NPI shortblock that I pulled out in 2014. New Kings main bearings and ARP main studs Mahle Forged 16cc dished pistons and 2013 Boss Coyote Rods
98SnakeHorse
Pulled the PI Engine to rob the heads and assemble the now forged, slightly higher compression longblock.
98SnakeHorse
Back in the car she goes......... The factory plastic intake manifold decided to crack over the winter so upon filling the coolant back up it leaked in the engine valley and made a big mess. The typhoon aluminum manifold should treat me well........ Waiting for my scheduled dyno tune......... Off she goes to the dyno. I ended up going to Lsxkillr in Bonner Springs, KS Edited June 12, 2017 by 98SnakeHorse
98SnakeHorse
Here is how the engine bay currently looks..... And here is the car how it sits today. Just picked up from paint a couple of weeks ago... And now we are caught up to present day. That was alot of work getting my build thread switched over to here lol. I look forward to being an active member on this site from now on and showing the progress of budget blue.

Hows it been running? That's funny you say that I get comments from people all the time asking if I repainted the car. It looks like a different car in different lights. In the shop, in the sun, when its cloudy and at night it never looks the same lol. Car has been running great. I'm in the process now of sourcing some turbo stuff to get this thing switched over. I've always wanted to eventually go turbo just didnt want to do it tell I had a solid motor to go off of. Will be going turbo, turbo cams, and upgrade a few other things. Would really like to get the MHS Vc Jr Intake/rails package they offer too. Not sure if I'm going to be able to make all that happen at once though. You can get the eddy intake modified to take stock fuel rails and those are good for a fair bit of power.

I will need to get the pre 98 tank and a bigger fuel pump switched over to. I would really be happy closer to 600hp though Idk there is something about this whole kit that I love lol.... http://www.modularheadshop.com/i-24493635-mhs-edelbrock-4-6l-2v-intake-manifold-combo-return-style-with-regulator.html?ref=category:1268182 Edited July 18, 2017 by 98SnakeHorse
