RS5 wheel color options

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,
I picked up this Audi a few months back, just came off Audi Lease, perfect condition, and I love it!

It's the RS5 with Lunar Gray interior, the color is Daytona something, its' actually a gray.
torque vectoring rear end, Flat plane crank V8, Quattro, a very fun car to drive.

Wheels came with curb rash, and i'm going to get them repaired, and since they need to be recoated, thinking about possibly changing the color?

would love some feedback, pictures or photochops, don't want anything drastic like red or anything, maybe a bronze or brighter silver.

Feedback is welcome.

Thanks,

Absolutely bronze with the lip detail left machined (or possibly polished to repair the rash and then cleared?) I would personally go a bit darker bronze than those last pics but it looks great either way.

I agree totally Dan.

Been looking at other options as well.  Found a good shop here in town and getting some chips to look at in real time.

so the first coat of black chrome didn't turn out even, it's translucent, so i'm having them coat one wheel in Monaco copper, and one in black chrome.

will have an on the car shot by next week!

I like this wheel guy, without any direction from me, he calls and says he wasn't happy w the uniformity of the finish so he's going to re-do it.

Very good sign.  checking with other powder-coaters, black chrome is hard to apply.

Here's some PIX>

Honestly, in the nicest way possible. Black Chrome powder sucks asshole. I wanted to do it on the RK's but held off because not a single powdercoater I know around me had ever been happy with how the finish turned out. That's 99% of the reason why I waited to PVD them. Excited to see the copper!

you guys are on Par, it sounds like a tough color to put down

my guy takes pride in his work.  He bought an agitator machine that shakes the powder as it's being drawn into the line, for a more even spread.

which seems to be the issue with black chrome powder.  that and an even spray ;)

This is why we did a test shot.

Monico Copper.   looks cool, but not like the photo on the web site!

cool color but not quite right for my car.

I'm calling it Chocolate-copper.  Ordered a brighter powder.....

He did, apparently needed a better one?

OK, eyeball test complete.

this color is transparent copper.

Front is a light coat over silver.

Back is heavier coat over superchrome.  That's what I'm going with.

He's going to machine the outer lip and i'll give it a final on that - Monday  :)

yeah definitely the rear color.  that's way better and more a true copper finish.  can't wait to see these done and on the car.

They sure do make some expensive shit.. haha  I have some of their shifter bushings and other misc stuffs.  wish i could afford chassis braces, i think it would help out the body roll and twist on the allroad tremendously.

Yes, I noticed that the wifes Q5 creaks a little bit on gutters and stuff.

I'll post up when I install.  Also got their wheel spacers to flush these coppers out :)
