jedpony
Ever since i installed my procharger, my oil temp has became way hot. Thinking about running an oil cooler, any of you guys have one? If so where did you mount It? The front of my car is already crammed with the blower and the 3 core intercooler. How about flat or very slightly angled under the rad support?
Duff Daddy
We have run coolers for a kb cobra and actually on a Merc (trans coolers) both with fans and they were b&m super coolers. Normal spot for us to mount and plumb them to is the left front corner of the bumper.

He can notice the change in temp by either a physical temp gauge but also remember, temp is critical to oil pressure.
kbscobravert
Run a thermostat if this is a street car. I would recommend going to big if you are wondering about -8an vs -10an. If you can afford it, go -10an for your lines. By your cooler that uses the same fittings instead of sizing down for the cooler.....yes, your oil will taper down to much smaller at some point but why be the source of it. Go -10an. Do it right the first time. I am king of learning this the hard way.I run this cooler.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/der-15865/overview/with their adjustable fan controllerhttp://www.summitracing.com/parts/der-16749this thermostathttp://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear-501erlbypass adapterhttp://www.summitracing.com/parts/ham-3320filter mounthttp://www.summitracing.com/parts/ham-3344 Edited September 23, 2013 by kbscobravert

I'd love to see a write up whenever you have the chance, I've been looking to do an oil cooler setup for a while now. Oh and btw the first link says "page not found"Thanks. Fixed it. See that is what happens when using this small notebook computer. I typed it out from reading on another computer. lolI will put it in print in November. I already pulled the old Canton setup and smaller cooler out of the car. It was a -8an setup without a thermostat. The Canton pieces, albeit are very very nice, they use NPT and I would much rather have the space saving and flow benefits of the -ORB stuff. Hell the new Hamburger's stuff is -12anORB so I am adapting down to a -10an. There is plenty of flow in their components. That and the alignment works best for our cars instead of shooting the hose end straight down. Coming straight out of the block you have better options even with my forward facing headers.- - - Updated - - -Great info! kbscobravert
This is the old oil cooler. A nice Derale piece with -8anORB ports. Mounted to a flat piece of aluminum strip and braced to the fender strap. There is a lot going on in this pic though, oil PSI sending unit for gauge, and oil feed line for the turbo. I ran this for about 1,500 miles but without a thermostat. Was not that smart. I was on E85 and moisture in oil becomes an issue, then to not have oil temps getting hot enough fast enough is no bueno. You want your oil around 212* to burn off condensation in the crankcase.I ran that with a Canton remote located oil filter mount. Simple piece of 90* aluminum bolted to the bellhousing. And a Canton adapter....see my comments above about those.New cooler. And the Earl's thermostatI am just playing with where to put it here. jedpony
Wow! Thankyou kbscobravert! Great info there! Im really just deciding on where i would mount it but you gave me a great idea with yours. Ill probably end up doing this during the winter when the car is in storage. What kind of oil temps were you seeing before the oil cooler and after? Thanks again!

There is a gauge in the new cluster arrangement but I won't know what the old system was doing. Also with the new Holley Dominator EFI I am switching to, I can log pre and post cooler temps and trigger the fan also. I would be willing to bet that the fan may only come on a few times in the dead of summer or during some open track events that I may give a try.
