kucklehead
My car is approaching 200k and with the hci coming up soon i was figuring it was in my best interest to add a timing chain. I was looking at tfs double roller set. What else will i need to replace it? Any bushings or dowels i have never messed with one. I have a shop doin the timing. And will the double roller fit under my stock 5.0 timing cover?Warning: To much awesome
Pushrod91
200k and only a timing chain? Might want to do a compression test and check the bearings. Suck for you to do a HCI swap and blow a freeze plug or oil pump go out or spin a bearing or have excessive play in the cylinders. kucklehead
Im having everything checked also but the engine has been kept up very well only 2500mi to each oil change and always run amsoil. And the car has NEVER had a problemWarning: To much awesome Edited January 25, 2013 by kucklehead
64bit_Tuning
will the double roller fit under my stock 5.0 timing cover?Considering the fact that your car was equipped with a double roller from the factory... I would be inclined to say yes.

Det_Riot
Edelbrock makes then, i believe trickflow does too. Im on my phone or else id link you. Basically they just have different keyways to adjust the timing. Itll make more sense when you see it
kucklehead
Yeah i know what ya mean we use them on the 2.3 turbo cars. So you can adjust your timing better. Its got a few screws and you can advance or retard it. Ill look for one if they arent to pricey but it may be in my best interest to go ahead and do it since i wanna go Turbo ill have more adjustabilityWarning: To much awesome
revhead347
Most people go with the Ford Racing one. Just look out for Chinese Ones.http://www.summitracing.com/parts/fms-m-6268-a302/overview/Kurt
scottydsntknow
Agreed, the OEM FRPP one is what I always used and will use again if I ever get another pushrod. Can't go wrong, double roller, OEM quality, you know it'll fit perfect etc... etc... and price is not a huge issue either with them.
revhead347
FYI, you can use a Cloyes replacement chain with the Motorsport gears too. Saves you the money of buying new gears when the chain wears out. I think it's a Cloyes 9-130.Kurt
