jasonkb77
So with the 97 I recently picked up, Ive been doing some repairs.. Ball joints and tie rod ends were shot, and my new wheels were rubbing on the control arms at full lock.. Soo I decided to snag some termi control arms to swap in. Upon trying to unbolt the control arms from the k member, I realized the front bolts wouldnt pull out more than 1/2 way without hitting the rack.. Do I seriously have to remove the rack?! or is there a work around? Thanks for insight.
95riosnake
I removed the two mounting bolts for the rack, that allowed me to move the rack forward enough to slide the bolts out. Since the tie rod ends aren't attached to the control arms, it will move forward easily, no need to unhook the power steering lines or anything. SublimeRT
Would be a great time to install some MM solid rack bushings while you're in there and since you'll be needing an alignment anyway when you're done. They're a great inexpensive upgrade.
