Light Painting

Recommended Posts

Not sure who is into photography here, I've been starting to get into it.
Have started to do "light painting", anyways here's my first couple of attempts.

There are different methods to do this, ive been doing a simpler method that requires no photoshop. You put the camera on an extremely slow shutter speed and then expose the car to light like you are painting. Its a bit difficult because you have to have the correct lighting and if you don't have an even "stroke" of lighting it will show. I've been really enjoying doing this and think they look pretty decent so far. Looking to do lots more practice though.

Just thought I'd share.

Looks good man. You'll develop a technique once you do more. I had a buddy do some for me before and they're definitely some of the coolest pictures I have

Light painting really is an art. I follow alot of guys on Instagram and Facebook that are PROS at it.

Here is my attempt at it. I used two different exposures. One for the car and one for the background. And then merged them with photo shop to create the composite image you see. Shot at f2.8 and ISO 200 with my exposure time being 1/30 for the car and 1/15 for the background. I used an LED light stick and walked around the car slowly. I know alot of people that use soft boxes or strobe lights. I prefer this method. I think you can highlight the car better.
