This is Fairy Lake.. It is soooo beautiful in person and you can drive right to it.. THis lake is at 9200 FT and is a brutal 5 mile hike.. The best part.. The upper lake is connected to a lower lake by a 30 foot waterfall.. It drops a few thousand feet over the course of a mile.. It's pretty much a constant waterfall.. It's so awesome...pine creek by MattWhidden, on FlickrLooking down the Valley on the way down.. A fire had started that day, and it was smokey for the rest of the summer all over Montana.. it was AWFUL.. you can see the awful lighting on this day even... I'm praying this year isn't like that.. Last year we were already knee deep in snow in July, and the creek was RAGING.. Had to tie ropes to ourselves and the dog to get across safely... Sketchiest thing I've done in a long time.. Later in the hike, my tripod saved me from sliding down a 500ft snow chute that would have likely severerly injured or killed me.. I had trekking poles somewhere at home, but my GF couldn't fucking figure out where she put them......... It's beautiful.. and there is always something cool going on.. Lots of shows, concerts, festivals, etc... Usually free or cheap.. I've been alot of places, and nothing compares.. Since I grew up in WV and went to college in south western VA, I'm not exactly a city boy so I often get tired of the hustle of city life in Pittsburgh.Buuuuut, I had to follow my career and this is where it took me, lol.Anywho, sorry to keep derailing the thread, lol. I say that because some software makes images look too much like a cartoon, but I am not a fan of HDR photography, because some people rely too much on post-production work.If you can, post a before and after photo of the photography.
