Tony

double din using 94-98 radio bezel :)

Recommended Posts

I agree with Bryan & Dan, that looks incredible and should have contacted you to make it a factory option ;)

Also agree with MMR, a B&M Hammer shifter will be a nice mod. I loved having them in the '95 GT & '96 GT I had. I wouldn't own another SN95 automatic without one!

Same here

Wow the finished results look fawking awesome! I was a little scared at first when you posted the "progress" pics and I thought it stuck out a little too far but no way, real awesome Tony! Had I not already bought my new edge bezel I would do this in a heartbeat. It actually looks more "at home" up there and is probably better for visibility as well.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Should have contacted you before going out and spending the money on this new bezel..... Especially because I have like two extra 94-98 radio bezels..... in fact I might send you one of them.....

I didn't personally like the "hammer" style handle, so I went with a "t-handle" style w. a button to control the overdrive, that way I have it right by hannd and don't have to take my eyes off the road to find the OD button.

trim kit? not sure what you mean but this is just using the oem radio bezel. mdf board and duraglass used to fill the area surrounding the dd.

I bought a Metra 95-5026 install kit.  I'm installing a JVC KW-V50BT stereo.  I don't like the way the Metra trim looks around the stereo.  Also this install is challenging.  I work in a body shop so I have access to everything I need.  I've done the cutting on the bezel but clearing that heater duct is a pain.  I have to build that frame out pretty far.  Trying to follow what you have but I doubt I can do this in a day's work lol.

i see what you mean now. i just used the trim piece that came with the bezel. as for connecting the dd to the actual bezel....i think i propped up the bar behind the bezel in the dash to take the weight off...man it was just random shit i did honestly lol. no certain exact science to it lol.

did the same to the gt i have now but it was easier to mount flush

Here is what I have so far.  I am working on it more tomorrow.  I used a piece of aluminum, cut and sanded it to fit tight.  Now I am going to sand the bezel and glue an aluminum frame around this.  I plan on making a lip inside the frame and mounting the stereo from the inside so it stops on that lip.  The new parts to the bezel will be held together with some plexus glue and finished off with seam sealer (SEM) and putty.  This is the plan anyways.

sounds like a good plan and should hold the weight of the dd i'd say. looks great so far too btw!

Here's some more pics of my work inspired by Tony.  I haven't installed it yet.  This radio was so big I had to bring it out really far and even then I had to hack into my heater duct.  I custom fabricated some plastic and installed it to create more room for the radio.  But the caulk is drying and as soon as that is done I will be putting the radio in.

Finish looks good but holy shit...........did u feed your dash a Viagra?!?!? Lol

This message courtesy of crapatalk!

It don't look like it sticks out too bad if you are looking at it in the car.  But the radio was so long I had to do this lol.  I have everything done except mounting a bracket for my USB and HDMI cables.  Bolting them to the metal frame behind the dash and making them angle out enough to use them anytime I want.  I'll post another pic of that when its done.
