Whore out my Mistress

Recommended Posts

So when I painted the Mage i needed a new DD.  I had drove mine for 8 years in the snow in WI, so I wasn't worried about getting into another stang.  Came across this 95 GTS.  This was the Mage's Mistress.

Picked it up for $1200 with a blown 2nd gear, rotted out exhaust, MASSIVE misfire over 2k rpm, and MASSIVE vibration over 3k rpm.  Also had a non functioning radiator fan and u-joints that would make anyone cringe.

So the distributor has a cam sensor thing in it, i replaced that and it got rid of the misfire. But still had a huge vibration in the drivetrain. Put on a new offroad h-pipe and dumps. Well I found a guy who sells rebuilt T5's so i called him up and made a deal to trade a T45 and the T5 currently in the car for a rebuilt T5, so i could have 2nd gear again.  I get it, put it in with stock clutch. etc, and vibration goes away.  What I came to find out was the rebuilt trans that was in the car (the one i pulled out) was a T5 from a fox body, so the input shaft was shorter and therefor not riding on the pilot bushing, so it was flying around like a helicopter.  Do with the 2nd gear issue fixed, i also knocked out the vibration issue.  Which then equaled, perfect. driving. car.

who posts pics of a car they already sold....pfff....wait, nvm

lol, you got good $$ from that car. i remember i was even interested in buying i think lol.

lol i was reminiscing today.  and i kinda want another mustang to beat around in. its weird i know. I found one for $800, burnt orange, no engine/trans/harness or front seats.  I have front seats, and I have 2 NPI motors in my garage... just no transmission.  I really want to offer the guy $500 and pick it up

let me rephrase, i really want another pushrod sn.  like really bad.

idk how some of you guys have more than one of these of these cars, i find one to be more than enough to keep me occupied.  good story though sounds like it ended up being a nice daily.  Sometimes i wish mine was stock and not a huge pain in the nuts.

hence why you buy a second one to just drive around.  it's what i want to do.  plan to drive my 95 vert for a little before it sells.

very nice job though Will.  definitely made out on that deal.  That burnt orange isn't factory though.  97 was the only burnt orange and it was called Autumn Orange.  Only 1,519 were made.  that car is repaint with a color change.

The whole point is to buy something different so i don't have to deal with them at all lol.  it's not my idea of a good daily driver with how old they are especially since i live in the snow belt, just so many other vehicles I'd chose to daily drive first.

with a good set of snow tires, i would take this over a 4x4 truck any. day. of. the. week!  honestly the thing treated me awesome.  even though it didnt have cruise control, i put on a little over 50k miles in the 4 years i owned it, along with driving the mage in the summer times.  Traveled down to the twin cities 2 times a month (7 hour round trip) and it never skipped a beat.

and honestly you can't beat the price for one of these, $2k for something that gets 25+ mpg and still somewhat fun to drive and parts EVERYWHEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Did i mention this did awesome in the snow?

And i ice raced it?

and still was my DD?

and never put any money into it other than the parts i listed above in the posts?

haha they aren't bad cars, I just feel like i need time away from them once in a while. I ran mine with brand new snow tires on it the first year i had it, yes it's doable but it's not that great.  It can't touch something fwd or awd when it comes to the deeper stuff and going up hills.

it was def a good car to me, but yea, awd is going to blow it out of the water haha :)  i really was impressed with how it did in the snow. I had blizzaks for about 4 years, and then i bought a set of general altimax arctics.  Those things fucking blew. lol  not nearly as much grip off the line as the blizzaks.  oh well.

The audi with blizzaks and awd gets me pretty much where ever i can imagine in the winter, so no more worrying about that!!

You know what doesn't work well?  One of these cars with all seasons and 4.10 gears in the snow.  That was entertaining.  Was still living with my parents at the time and it was my only car back then.  They had a slight incline to their driveway and I'll be damned if I couldn't get it back up the drive coming back from class one morning.  I eventually had to drift the 90* corner into their driveway in 2nd gear at like 20mph to have enough forward momentum to carry me up the drive and into the garage.  It was pretty white knuckle as the side of the driveway I had to drift into had a good 2 foot drop off along most of it.  Could have easily driven the car off the side of the drive and stuck it into the neighbors yard.  I bummed rides and begged to borrow my parents' SUV's after that escapade.

Now with my STi on the other hand, I'm more often driving like this than a responsible person:
