MikeSki
I picked this car up in October off of Craigslist, got him down to $850. It started and ran so I felt like I good deal. first thing I needed to do was install the back seat for the kiddies.
MikeSki
trying to track down a check engine light I replaced : IACV, TPS, MAF. Then I had charging issues so a new alternator. I didn't like the way it stopped so I replaced pads and rotors, I was in the neighbor hood so I added shocks and struts too. My wife bought me a CAI and I gathered up some tune up stuff. Then my A/C went out, new compressor, dryer, all lines and condenser. Average temp out of vent is @ 47* had squeaky suspension, replaced lower control arms and added a sportline spring kit (in the neighborhood again)
Det_Riot
Nice start! Jealous of your 47* ac temp. That is awesome! Where'd you source the new parts from?
MikeSki
Just this past weekend I installed newer front seats. Quite pleased with the outcome of the car so far. Still need to get CC plates to stop the front from bottoming out and crazy rebound. And get busy with body work.Nice start! Jealous of your 47* ac temp. That is awesome! Sleeperstang1994
850 seems like a good deal. looks like a lot of the easy maintenance is getting done! that's the best place to start, especially if you have kids.
jasonkb77
Nice find for the price! How is the body on it? Any rust?
Prokiller
that is a heck of deal. i wish i could find another one for that price range. getting some good updates on the car so far.
MikeSki
There is no rust, some damage to the rockers from someone jacking it up wrong (both sides), hail damage to roof and quarter panel on driver side banged up. When I went to get it, it was under a pecan tree, claimed to be there for two years. I believe him too, I needed to install a battery, three quarts of trans fluid, fill the power steering, a gallon of water, and two cans of fix a flat to see if it would start and move, it did so now it's mine. 95riosnake
For $850 I'd buy it all day long, $1500 or so total investment and you have a fun car to mess around in OR a great, inexpensive platform to begin a build with. Either way, win-win
MikeSki
I'm not a body man by any means, but I believe I can get these out.
Det_Riot
The bigger ones you might be able to get out with those big suctions body poppers
95riosnake
A paintless dent removal guy should be able to massage those out, and WAAAAY cheaper than bodywork/paint
Blackmage
i see a ton of creases there. you would be able to get them to pop out, but in reality it wont look a whole ton better than it does currently without a lot of body work.
jasonkb77
Your definitely going to need filler on the roof, and after pulling the dents. Suction probably won't be sufficient for the rear of quarter due to the creases or the rocker given its shape. I recommend stud welding for that. I do body work 50 hours a week.. so if you need pointers hit me up.
MikeSki
I have a body shop that will do the one by the vent free, I'm just gonna take my time on the rear part. I have a little experience with body work from the S10's I had in the past, so I know patience is a virtue. Every time I rush I do more damage. I'll get it as close as I can, I don't wanna use a lot of filler.
MikeSki
We got back at it this weekend, first task was wire repair to my alternator. It was really nasty. This is the repaired harness everything tested good Then we went under the car, getting rid of wore out (6 month) struts This little guy is definitely hands on rides sooo much better now while we were in the neighborhood we fixed the ABS light (bent sensor) ant the horn. we had a very productive day
