arayray
I posted my build on another forum and since it is nearing completion, I decided to post my build here also. I bought my 96 Cobra back on 11/17/12 and started tearing it down December of 2012. Here are some pictures of the progress:After I picked it upInitially we were just going to repaint it but found that it was wrecked and not repaired correctly so we welded a new quarter on the pass side. After this we began to strip all the body panels and epoxied everything..Other misc stuff: oil pan gasket change, new clutch, subframe connectors, all new fluids: trans, rear end, motor etc. Just recently I had a ton of parts powdercoated by Dylan's Coatings in Plum. Calipers, sway bar, valve covers, plenum and coil covers to complete my COP swap. While we did the COP conversion, we took the front suspension out and installed BBK Longtubes and I got a Prochamber to go along with it. Now we are on the final stages, I am going with Black with Spirited Green Metallic race stripes. Full build thread is here.Yesterday we got the pass side foor glass in and the spoiler painted. Today we got the spoiler stripes laid out and we had to put a new drivers side window motor in.
Steve-Oh
Very nice! Welcome home btw! I like the green, it's definitely an interesting choice. Can't wait for finish pics!Sent from Space
95riosnake
Great work, especially on the rust repair! I will keep my eyes peeled for the car when I'm out and about this summer, should be easy to recognize with the stripes! I'm going to try to hit the Wexford cruise at some point this year, maybe we could meet up there at some point

WildWillyWalker
Love the paint scheme. I really want to see the car assembled with that spoiler. Cool idea. By the way, what color is that green powder coat? I have a sample just like it!
arayray
Hey sorry, we've been real busy at the shop! The powdercoat was 'shocker yellow' over a chrome base. Today we are painting the sides of the car and hopefully I will have the car put back together & on the road in the new couple weeks!
arayray
Last week or so we got most of the trim pieces painted. We did the rear sail panels, rocker moldings, side vent scoops and gas door, the only trim pieces left are the front sail panels, rocker molding extension under the fender and tail light bezels. Today we got the sides all painted and tomorrow we are gonna scuff and buff it! Hopefully next week I can get all the interior back in and then just the front & back bumpers! Awesome I'll keep that in mind in the near future, I'm going to be rolling and pulling my rear quarters a LOT to clear the rear when my car is aired out so they will definitely need some paint work. Psh, not like your car is clean anyways, i would just leave the paint cracked/flaking/scratched. Give it that aged look

arayray
Today I got the door locks/handles/inner & outer weatherstrips back in and got the drivers side sail panels on and bolted in. It is really gonna fly now! I want to get the inside sealed off before I put the interior in. Hopefully tomorrow I can start that.

Blackmage
can never beat the look of fresh paint, especially when you sand the clear and make it smooth as a babys bottom
arayray
can never beat the look of fresh paint, especially when you sand the clear and make it smooth as a babys bottom It's smoother My dad used premium show clear on the whole car, this stuff is amazing! Today I got almost all the interior in, only thing I have left is the center console, pass seat, and door panels. Hopefully tomorrow I will tackle that and swapping my MGW shifter. arayray
The other day I put sound deadener in the whole trunk and finished up wiring in my interior leds. I wired them in with JST connectors for easy removal of the console. Here are some of the items I used: JST ConnectorsLED ControllerCupholder LEDsUnderdash LEDs In the diagram I spliced into the Power+Ground from the Cig/Aux Plug. I used this in to a toggle switch and then into the led controller (flash modes, dim/brighten or change color if multicolor leds) and then to the leds. I wired JST connectors to the ends of the led strips incase I need to remove the console. Cheap and neat mod.
arayray
Sure is! Today my dad did all the body work to my front cover, it had a ton of scrapes from someone pulling too far up on to sidewalks etc. He filled all those in and filled the holes for the front license plate/bracket & got it primered. Tomorrow I'm gonna get it ready for paint, the rear has been done for awhile.

arayray
Well I got back yesterday from vacation and while I was gone I got some parts in, I received my ebrake & shifter boot from RedLine Goods, some detailing supplies, interior dome light leds and some meguiars black wax! I got the console installed with the new shifter & ebrake boots and got the pass side seat back in. While I was gone, my dad sanded and buffed my headlights & taillights.
